Recon 4 Firmware

Helpful Hints when updating firmware:

Locate the latest revision of firmware – filename xxx.fud Unzip the fud file to your desktop so it will be visible during the updating process.

Connect the Recon 4 to your computer. If your Recon 4 has the RS-232 port option, the serial port is a direct connect to a PC serial port or USB-to-serial adapter.

If your Recon 4 has the RS-422 port option, obtain an RS-232 to RS-422 converter from FFV. Then:

  1. Connect Recon 4's serial port to the RS-422 side of converter
  2. Connect the RS-232 side of converter to your PC serial port or USB-to-serial adapter.
If the computer does not provide a 9 pin serial port, a USB to Serial converter is necessary. Keyspan (part number USA-19HS) makes an inexpensive one that works well. The Keyspan converter is plug-and-play on Windows PC, it does not require a driver.
