FFV’s HD Solutions at IBC2008
FFV will be demonstrating DVR systems already in production, as well as a number of groundbreaking innovations currently in development, including first-of-a-kind solutions for HD recording.
Elite HD™
Making its international debut at IBC2008, the award-winning Elite HD™ is the first camera-mounted DVR and player to harness the JPEG 2000 (J2K) compression codec for recording HD-SDI video signals. The Elite HD gives broadcasters a powerful new option for recording high-quality video from HD-SDI cameras while reducing the costs of storage media. Designed to mount on the back or base of a camcorder, the Elite HD accepts an incoming HD-SDI video signal with up to eight channels for embedded audio and uses J2K to record at data rates of 100 Mbit/s with virtually no loss in signal quality.

Omega HD™
The choice of a U.S. national sports association, the HD version of FFV’s flagship high-end Omega DVR can record either SD or HD video with high-quality J2K compression at 100 Mbits/sec. Using the Omega HD™ recorder, users can simultaneously record, play, and store multiple SD and HD video files and create video clips, loops, and playlists using the simple-touch front-panel controls. This makes the Omega HD ideal for many applications, including graphics and key fill, station automation, spot insertion, and sports/instant replay.

eClips
Introduced at the 2008 NAB Show in April, eClips is a cost-effective and easy-to-use DVR for live broadcast production. In a single compact package, eClips gives broadcasters and cable providers instant, on-the-fly access to video still/clip stores, animated graphics, and audio clips for enhancing live news, sports, and educational programs. Available for either SD or HD (SDI) broadcast, eClips provides large touch screen controls for unprecedented ease of use and supports a 16:9 aspect ratio for HD production. eClips is ideal for local TV stations and corporate A/V producers, as well as for rental and staging companies that produce live events.
